Ortiz (16-8-1) was on his way out of the UFC, but a stunning submission of Ryan Bader in early July put him in position for this match after Phil Davis suffered an injury while training for this match. Ortiz had lost four of his last five matches before the Bader fight, and he showed that he still has something left in the tank.

Sports betting odds have Evans as a massive -450 favorite in this rematch with Ortiz, who is rated at +325, and these two met in July 2007, fighting to a draw after Ortiz was docked a point for holding onto the cage.
