UFC Betting – Maynard, Edgar Look To Settle The Score In Houston

WWE Raw fans can respect the idea of a trilogy, and even they should be excited for next Saturday’s main event at UFC 136 in Houston, where lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will take on Gray Maynard for the third time. Edgar is looking to avenge his only loss, while Maynard is aiming for his first UFC belt.

UFC 136 Odds – Saturday, October 8th, 7:00 PM ET

Edgar (13-1-1) has a loss and a draw against Maynard, and really, he should have two losses after a horrible first round at UFC 125, but to his credit the champ fought back and almost stole the match. Your bookie software has factored in Edgar’s heart and will, but players should also realize that he is incredibly versatile and comfortable wherever the fight goes.

Maynard (10-0-1, 1 NC) isn’t the most technical striker, but Edgar will tell you that he packs power in his punches, and he’s a strong wrestler, hence his nickname (“The Bully”). He’s a huge lightweight who uses his size to dictate fights, and he’ll stick to the same plan against Edgar.

UFC odds have Edgar as a -150 favorite in this 155-pound showdown, while Maynard is listed at +120, and it’s tough to see this ending before the five-round limit. It’s going to be a battle of wills and styles, but Edgar’s versatility should give him an edge and he’ll finally be able to get past Maynard, who will probably get another shot down the line. Take Frankie Edgar in your online betting book.

World Series Odds – Phillies, Red Sox Still Leading The Race To The Fall Classic

After you’re done entering fishing contests for the fall, head over to your favorite online sportsbook to check out the sports betting odds for the World Series as the regular season is drawing to a close, and it should be no surprise as to who the favorites are.

Philadelphia is leading the way thanks to their all-world starting rotation led by Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels, while Roy Oswalt has to be the best No.4 in the majors. Boston is next with one of the top offenses in the league, but MLB betting players know that Josh Beckett and Jon Lester will have to carry the rotation unless a third can step up (John Lackey, where are you?). The New York Yankees are also in the mix, but outside of C.C. Sabathia, who can you trust in their rotation? Texas has a much better rotation than the Yankees and they can hang with the Bronx Bombers in terms of offense.

From the National League, don’t counter Milwaukee, who need Zack Greinke to step up and deliver in the postseason, but some are worried about his history with anxiety: can he handle the pressure of the playoffs? Then there is Atlanta, and the winner of the West as Arizona and the defending World Series champs from San Francisco battle it out. But when it comes down to it, a Philadelphia/Boston World Series should be the matchup at your favorite online betting sites.

NBA Odds – Still No Signs Of Compromise Between Owners, Players

Those who bet on MLB odds will tell you know much the lockout hurt the game in 1994 and 1995, and even now the game is still trying to work its way back to where it was. The NBA is coming off the most exhilarating season in recent memory as the Miami Heat got everyone talking, and not just in the sports world, and then they were “upset” by Dallas in the NBA Finals. However, everyone knew that the lockout was hanging over the sport like a storm cloud, and as of July 1st, the owners locked the players out. More worryingly, it doesn’t look like there will be any end in sight.

The two sides have only sat down to the negotiating table once since the lockout began, and reports surfaced that they came away from the meeting further apart than ever before. The main sticking point in the discussions (or lack thereof, we should say) is salaries: owners are saying that they are losing money and it’s due to paying out too much in salary to the players, who have offered to shave off $500 million. The owners replied with an offer of $2 billion, and no one was willing to budge.

The NFL lockout was nothing compared to how this lockout will go. The owners aren’t going to compromise and are willing to lose a season or more, and the players are now looking overseas to try and continue their career. One thing is for sure, if you are an NBA fan, you may want to check into other options in your sports betting book.
