The National Football League is viewed as the North American betting sports organization most dominated by parity. That is to say that unlike the other three major sports on the continent, which are baseball, basketball, and hockey, football is the one where the least amount of separation exists from top to bottom. The obvious result of this would be new winners every season, and unlike the AFC in recent years, the NFC has carried that trend. So the sports betting news community is scratching their head on the question of who will win their respective NFC divisions in 2010?
No NFL betting team has won the NFC East in consecutive seasons since the Eagles did it four straight times from 2001-04, and after they lost in the Super Bowl that final year, Philadelphia has won the division just once. The Cowboys reigned supreme in 2009, the Giants in 2008, making the Redskins the only NFC East team in the past ten years that hasn’t won the division. That trend will continue for at least another year, as the Giants return to the top as NFC East winners in 2010.
The Minnesota Vikings have won the NFC North in consecutive seasons, and with Brett Favre returning to the club, the Vikings should be back on top barring injury. The Atlanta Falcons were runners up to the Carolina Panthers two years ago, and to the Saints in 2009, but this may finally be the year that Atlanta gets their due. Meanwhile, after consecutive years of the Cardinals taking first place in the NFC West, the San Francisco 49ers will take their turn at the top.
